Building community and resources for trans and gender-nonconforming scientists
Transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming scientists who do fieldwork (i.e. ecologists, geologists, marine biologists and more) face unique and complex challenges in their work environment. Field work can put us in vulnerable and potentially dangerous situations that can become a barrier to pursuing our science careers. Challenges include navigating gender-segregated dorms, queerphobic incidents in remote areas, and geographic isolation from our support networks.
The goals of this organization are to:
1) Build community for TGNC field researchers that are often isolated in workplaces that are majority cisgender, and
2) Share resources for making those labs and the fieldwork they do safer for us!
